The Badcock name has been around since 1904 when Henry S. Badcock founded the company in Mulberry, Florida. In 1920, Wogan S. Badcock, Sr., purchased the company from his father and began an extensive expansion program that continues today throughout the southeastern United States under W.S. Badcock Corporation. In November of 1951, James C. Baber, Jr. who was in the banking business in Washington, D.C. with his new bride, Evelyn Badcock Baber, was offered the chance to buy the Badcock store at 512 Clematis Street in West Palm Beach under his own Corporate name, Badcock’s Economy Furniture Store, Inc. However, both Companies use the trade name of “Badcock Home Furniture & More”. Badcock has a unique operation. Its merchandise is supplied by its own distribution center and the W. S. Badcock distribution centers which give the Company an advantageous buying power. Plus, Badcock is one of the few family owned furniture stores today that provides its own unique, in-house financing, even for first time buyers. The in-house financing, plus family ownership and over 320 store buying power, gives Badcock an advantage over the very competitive marketplace today. Due to back to back hurricanes, Wilma and Jean, in 2004, the Corporate headquarters was destroyed in West Palm Beach and moved to 3931 RCA Boulevard, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
